Fiji Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade, Cooperatives, MSME’s & Communications, Hon. Manoa Kamikamica, recently concluded a successful visit to Australia aimed at strengthening economic, trade, and diplomatic ties between the two nations. His visit encompassed high-level meetings with Australian government ministers, private sector representatives, and members of the Fijian diaspora living in Australia.
During his visit, Hon. Kamikamica met with senior Australian government officials to discuss deepening bilateral trade relations and enhancing economic cooperation across key industries. The meetings included discussions on initiatives to boost trade and investment flows between Fiji and Australia, as well as exploring potential areas of collaboration in renewable energy, tourism, agriculture, and manufacturing.
The Deputy Prime Minister also engaged with key figures in Australia’s private sector and industry leaders, underscoring Fiji’s commitment to fostering partnerships that benefit both economies. He highlighted the potential of Fiji’s growing industries, including the burgeoning export market for Fijian kava, and encouraged further investment in Fiji’s renewable energy and sustainable development sectors.
Fiji and Australia share a long history of collaboration and this visit provided an invaluable opportunity to discuss new avenues for cooperation, particularly in trade, investment, and people-to-people connections.
Hon Kamikamica also met with members of the Fijian diaspora community in Australia and expressed gratitude for their ongoing contributions to both Fiji and Australia and reaffirmed the Fijian Government’s commitment to supporting Fijians abroad.
