The President of the Republic of Fiji, His Excellency Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, and First Lady Emily Lalabalavu met with members of the Fijian community in Sydney, Australia yesterday.
In his address to the members of Fiji’s disapora, President Lalabalavu reflected on recent developments in Fiji. He thanked the diaspora for their continuing love and support for their homeland. He affirmed that the nation deeply values the children of Fiji in whatever part of the globe they settle in. He urged them to be law abiding and to continue to be good citizens in their adopted nation.
The President also reflected on his recent official visit to Britain, Ireland, Rome, Abu Dhabi and India to strengthen bilateral relations and meet Fijian diaspora communities.
Refecting on his recent visit to India, he shared how he was inspired by the timeless teachings of Sai Babaโparticularly the messages: โLove all, hate neverโ and โLove All, Serve All. Help Ever, Hurt Never.โ The President noted that these principles of compassion and service are clearly demonstrated in Indiaโs commitment to providing free healthcare and education for all.
The President also acknowledged Sri Madhusudan Sai for upholding these values through humanitarian initiatives that continue to uplift lives including through the Sai Prema Foundation and Sri Sathya Sai Childrens Heart Hospital in Muanikau, Suva.
President Lalabalavu expressed his sincere appreciation to the Fijian diaspora in Australia for the unwavering support they provide to their families in Fiji through remittances. He highlighted that their contributions play an essential role in strengthening Fijiโs social and economic wellbeing.
President Lalabalavu also acknowledged the important role that the Fijian community plays in supporting and advancing the FijiโAustralia Vuvale Partnership. He commended their commitment, unity, and community spirit, which continue to reinforce the deep people-to-people ties between the two nations.
He reminded Fijians of the importance of looking after one another, encouraging them to continue upholding unity, compassion, and service within their families and the wider community.
